Dirk Ahner presents the 4th cohesion report to the CPMR
Since its creation in 1973, the CPMR has been an important partner for the Commission on Regional Policy issues. For this reason, Dirk Ahner, Director General at DG Regio, participated in the CPMR Political Bureau just few days after the publication of the 4th Cohesion Report. The meeting took place in Augustow in Poland at the invitation of Dariusz Piontkowski, Marshal of Podlaskie, one of the new Member Regions included in the Convergence Objective.
During the Political Bureau meeting, the CPMR welcomed the fact that the territorial aspect of cohesion maintains a central role in the 4th Cohesion Report and that key policy areas for the Conferences 156 Member Regions, such as globalisation or climate and demographic change, were largely included in the document published by the Commission on 30th May 2007....

Challenges for regional cooperation in the Black Sea basin
A few months after the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the European Union, and following the start of the new European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENPI) as well as the Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes (CBC) in the Black Sea Basin, 29 CPMR Regions from the Balkan and Black Sea Regional Commission (BBSRC) met in Çanakkale, Turkey, on 24 May 2007, at the invitation of the Governor Mr. Orhan Kirli.
Regions, universities, chambers of commerce, municipalities, harbour representatives, and international institutions, such as the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and BSEC Business Council, had the opportunity to exchange their points of view on possible cooperation in the Balkan and Black Sea area....
